hello fellow Ox. my name is tera and i am planning on moving to palau to live. i am searching and searching on line and all i can find are expensive tourists rentals. however, i feel optimistic about the possibility of finding a humble home--more local style--to rent. i will even live on an outer island. my question to you young Ox is simply this. what is your opinion of such a goal and do you think it is realistic? you can meet me on my website at purelifedesigns.com

Palau Ubin is essentially filled with tourist resorts as it is a fairly small island and tourism is a primary source of income for its locals.
Living in Singapore seems more realistic and then exploring the options on the island will be easier to do. Palau Ubin is a small ferry ride away from Singapore so you'll always be fairly close to 'civilization as you may be used to it.'
I'm not sure whether you can find a local style home to rent. You'll probably have to contact someone reliable in Singapore who can help you find such a place if you cannot actually explore the island yourself.
